Our take
The most machinery of any run here: push-pull hoist, rotating distributor, a 24-grid turntable, and a bell that chimes as the balls pass. Builds upward at 310 mm, so it suits a shelf, not a beginner's first afternoon. ROKR gives it the same seven-hour estimate as a run with 126 fewer parts, and the product page never says how the lights are powered. Gravity feed demands a genuinely level surface too.

What works
- The only marble run here with lights in the box: a touch switch on the back illuminates the warm-light signboard, the robot chef, the steam machine tower and the large outer-wall sign
- Most elaborate mechanism of the marble runs at 420 pieces - a push-pull hoisting lift, a flying-saucer rotating-and-falling distributor, a 24-grid double-deck cargo turntable and double descending tracks with S-bends
- Builds tall (310 mm) rather than wide, so it reads as a display piece on a shelf instead of sprawling across a desk
- A transparent acrylic outer cover protects the internal workings and keeps dust off the tracks - a practical advantage over open-frame runs
- A vintage yellow bell chimes as the 'candy' balls pass, so it has an audio element without any electronics driving it
What to watch for
- Priciest marble run of the group, and ROKR's own product page does not document how the lights are powered (battery vs USB) - budget for the unknown
- ROKR's store page warns that customs policy may strip wax, glue or batteries from the package, which matters more here than on the unlit runs
- The 7-hour official estimate is the same figure ROKR gives the 294-piece Marble Night City, despite this kit having 126 more parts - treat 7 hours as optimistic
- Like every gravity-fed ROKR run, it needs a stable, genuinely level surface or the descending tracks stall
